The holidays might be over, but January brings a new year and plenty to post and discuss with your agency’s social media audience. Make your New Year’s resolution to consistently and continuously update your agency’s social media channels, starting with these ideas:

  1. With the New Year comes time for resolutions. Ask your fans and followers what their resolutions are and how they are keeping up with them. You can also highlight some of your agency staff’s resolutions.
  2. Idea for #MotivationalMonday: “Every time you tear a leaf off a calendar, you present a new place for new ideas and progress.” – Charles Kettering
  3. January 3-9 is Home Office Safety and Security Week. Remind fans and followers the importance of having specialized commercial insurance coverage for a home business, and tips to keep such business endeavors secure and protected.
  4. Some people will keep their holiday decorations up until the New Year. Share some helpful tips for cleaning after the holidays and solutions for storing decorations.
  5. Insurance #TipTuesday: It is important to ensure you clean snow off of your roof (or have it cleaned), especially if more than a foot of heavy, wet snow and ice have accumulated.
  6. January 18 is Martin Luther King Day. Share some of Dr. King’s motivational words and some history that relates to the holiday.
  7. Most college students will be starting a new semester in January. Help your student followers and their parents out by providing some helpful tips for moving back into dorm rooms and getting focused again on school work.
  8. January is Get Organized Month. Celebrate by sharing some helpful tips and tricks to get your fans and followers organized in their professional and personal lives.
  9. Now that the season for winter sports has arrived, drum up some friendly competition by asking your fans and followers which activity they prefer: skiing or snowboarding?
  10. Did you know that January is also National Mentoring Month? Alert your audience of the importance of mentorship and local places where they can volunteer to be a mentor.
  11. For #WhipitUpWednesday: Some of your fans and followers may be observing a New Year’s resolution to eat healthier. Share some easy-to-make healthy recipes, especially those that can warm you up when it’s cold outside.
  12. If you’re located in an area that is likely to see snow, why not hold a contest to see which of your fans or followers can build the best snowman? This is a great way to get your community talking on social media!
  13. January 24-29 is Tax Identity Theft Week. Provide your fans and followers with ways they can work to prevent identity theft, and how identity theft insurance coverage can help.
  14. Insurance #FactFriday: New Year’s Day is apparently vehicle thieves’ favorite holiday. In 2013, this was the holiday with the most auto thefts, coming in at 2,184 vehicles. Remind your audience to make sure they have adequate car insurance coverage!
  15. Celebrate National Skating Month by sharing the best local ice skating spots and any deals or events they may have going on for the month.
